Learn Spanish with these 7 Simple Techniques

1) There are many websites that offer free online lessons for beginnners. Look for one that has a lot of audio, such as our site: LearningSpanishCentre.com. Use the forums to ask questions, and make friends with other students at your level.

2) Don’t waste the driving time you spend in the car. Instead of listening to the radio (unless you are listening to Spanish radio), try listening to programmed course materials. Many people commute more than 5 or 10 hours per week. Even at 30 minutes a day, you will be astounded what you can learn in the car.

3) Carry flashcards with you. Make your own flashcards on 3×5 notecards using words from the course from which you are currently studying. Be sure and carry them with you; next time you are standing in line or waiting for whatever, pull out the flashcards, and do a quick review.

4) Don’t forget about using a good book (with a dictionary in the back). While some people learn best from audios, you might be the type of person that has to see it in writing to learn it. Books typically have short story and reading lessons that will help enforce what you are learning on audios.

5) Don’t forget about software on your computer. You can easily listen to the same words and phrases over-and-over again without tiring out your computer. With multimedia systems, you typically get immediate feedback on your progress and mistakes.

6) Check your local school systems, both high-schools and college, for continuing education or community “fun” classes. Many offer multiple levels of Spanish, from beginner to advanced. You will look forward to working with a “live” teacher and fellow students.

7) If you get a chance, visit a Spanish-speaking country, especially if you can stay in the home of a family. You will learn so much more than the typial tourist/hotel experience. The site-seeing, museums, culture and foods will all help you learn your new language.

Learn Spanish CD - Audio Spanish Is The Best Way To Learn Spanish

Spanish is one of the most diversely spoken languages in the world. It is estimated that up to 400 million people currently speak it as their first language with many more learning it. In countries like the United States it is growing in popularity as a second language.

A popular method to learn Spanish is to use an audio course. Such a course generally comes on mp3 or CD and is a convenient way to learn the language. This article will explain why an audio course is a good option.

If you are looking for a course to help you study Spanish, I would suggest that the most important part of the course is the audio component.

When it comes down to the nitty-gritty, you learn a language to talk to people. Whether this is via a business or social interaction, you use language to receive and give views on a particular topic. People like to talk.

The other aspects of learning a language, like reading and writing are important aspects of any language of course, but I would suggest they are not as important as being able to talk. This point is proved by when you learned your mother tongue. You learned to speak before the other parts of the language.

So talking is the most important skill to have. Ironically, it is also the hardest part of learning a language because you have to perfect a number of skills.

So, speaking involves pronouncing words and understanding a flurry of words spoken back at you. These are hard skills to get down, especially when you have to do it quickly to keep a conversation going.

Thus a Spanish audio course facilitates this process without putting you under the pressure of talking to a person (which brings added pressure). This can be done in whatever environment that you feel comfortable in.

For instance, listening to an audio course in the car is a potentially great use of dead time. Rather do something constructive with your time than sitting in grid lock every day.

However, it is debatable whether you can give your full concentration to the course while driving at the same time. Many courses advise against doing this but in my experience you can do it if you have listened to the CD many times and just want to touch up some of your knowledge.

An audio course will typically be a series of around 30 lessons. Each course format may vary but ultimately they all boil down to : you listen and then repeat. There will also be some instruction or explanation in between. Depending on the level of the course, it should take you from beginner through to advanced Spanish, with each lesson lasting from 20-30 minutes.

An advanced level is basically being able to ask basic questions, understand the response and possible reply to the response. These are the basic building blocks that can take you to fluency. You will not get fluent using an audio course. I think this will happen when you are comfortable and have experience with talking to native speakers.

As an aside, an important skill along with the core language skills is being confident about speaking to native Spanish speakers. Once you get this confidence your Spanish will come on in leaps and bounds. With this said, a learn Spanish audio course is a good place to start you language learning.
